Homemade Dinner Mints

After dinner mints are a perfect bite-size dessert for any meal. They are simple to make from home with only a few ingredients.

Years ago, when we received our stand mixer for a wedding gift, it came with a small recipe book. One of the recipes was for a no-cook mint cookie. When I made these, we realized they are a lot more like traditional after-dinner mints. They really aren’t like cookies at all.

These are very sweet, so best in small quantities. I ended up making mine big, and we didn’t like it like that. You can make them whatever size you prefer, and obviously the smaller you make them, the more you’ll have. But, making them smaller takes a lot more time. So you can decide how you want to do it.

Homemade Dinner Mints Step by Step

Ingredients

  • 3 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 tsp peppermint extract
  • 2 drops green food coloring, optional
  • 4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Preparation

Place cream cheese, peppermint extract, and food coloring in the mixer bowl.

Attach flat beater and set speed to 2 for 30 seconds or until smooth.

Gradually add powdered sugar and mix for about 1 1/2 minutes or until the mixture becomes coarsely crumbled.

Store in refrigerator to cool before serving.

Homemade Dinner Mints Leftovers

We stored our extra dinner mints in the refrigerator in an airtight container. I think they tasted best when they were cold, straight from the refrigerator.

These mints are so delicious! Thanks for sharing the tip to not make them to large. Will certainly make these again.
