Veggie Pizza

Great as an appetizer, Veggie Pizza is made with a dough crust, ranch ‘sauce’, and fresh veggies on top. Easily customize to your tastes and enjoy!

Veggie Pizza is yet another family recipe. Again, I have no idea where it came from, but we have been making it as long as I can remember. I have seen other recipes for something similar online, but never anything exactly the same. I used to call my grandma once a month asking her for the recipe before I finally remembered to just write it down!

The original recipe was made using crescent rolls. I tried that a few times. But I found the pizza crust easier. It comes in a can near the rolls. It doesn’t fall apart as easily and cooks a little better.

I’ve used the base to make a veggie dip before, too. It’s a great recipe to have out as an appetizer without the crust. Combine the ingredients for the “ranch sauce” and dip fresh veggies in it.

Veggie pizza is also great for getting some veggies in. It combines some of my favorite things: a bread crust, ranch dipping, and raw veggies. I can also use this to get my picky kids to eat some vegetables too. Score for mommy!

Veggie pizza can be customized for different people. I don’t care for raw tomatoes, so I usually make half with (because Justin does eat them), and half without for me. You can also use other vegetables, such as peppers, on these if that’s what you like too.

You can serve veggie pizza immediately. But I prefer it to be cold. It can be stored in the refrigerator though it’s best the day it’s made. After that, the crust will start to get a bit too moist. So, veggie pizza is something that can be made ahead of time. Just not more than a day early. 

Another option for making it ahead of time would be to cook the crust and store it at room temperature. Mix the cream cheese spread and refrigerate, and chop the vegetables ahead of time. Then, it would only take a few minutes to prepare the pizza when it’s time to serve. 

Step by Step

Spread the pizza crust out on your baking sheet or stone and bake as directed, until the crust is golden brown.

Meanwhile, in a medium mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, mayonnaise, and ranch powder.

Once the crust has mostly cooled, spread the cream cheese mixture onto the dough. Try to get it as even as possible and close to the edges.

Sprinkle your vegetables on top of the cream cheese.

Cut into squares. Then refrigerate and serve cold.

Ingredients

  • 1 can pizza dough (refrigerated)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 pkg ranch dressing powder
  • 1/2 cup carrots (chopped or shredded)
  • 1/2 cup broccoli (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup tomato (chopped)
  • any other desired vegetables

Instructions

  • Spread the pizza crust out on a baking sheet and cook as directed, until golden brown
  • Meanwhile, in a small mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, mayonnaise, and ranch powder until smooth and creamy
  • Once the crust has cooled slightly, spread the cream cheese mixture onto the dough all the way to the edges
  • Sprinkle the chopped vegetables on top
  • Serve warm or refrigerate to serve cold

  1. I am vegetarian and try to find different meals to make. I’ve never thought of not adding cheese to my pizza. This is a brilliant idea. Also, I am impressed that you added carrots to it. This one I will definitely be using, thank you for the recipe.

    1. Well, this one does have cream cheese, but I know there is at least one brand of dairy-free cream cheese that my friend gets when she needs some. You could always try it with that. I like my veggie pizza with carrots and broccoli, my husband adds tomato and black olives.

  4. I honestly would have never thought to have served this cold. Pizza is always hot and so that is odd but with the sauce and toppings it totally makes sense and now I want to try it!

  6. Ahh! So (except for the crust) this is a no-bake pizza! I get it! I was thinking at first that it was like the white-sauce pizzas I used to get from Papa Murphy’s Take’n’Bake! (Only I was confused at first glance to know how/why you had sushi on top – eventually figured out that was raw veggies, not raw fish!)

    1. It was something we had at every family gathering as well. I couldn’t remember how to make it for a long time and had to call my grandma every time until I finally wrote it down.

  9. The cream chese and the mayo were definitely unexpected ingredients for me! My hubby do a veggies pizza it is very common in the Italian region where my husband comes from, but that is a hot pizza. If he saw mayo on a pizza I think his heart would stop, LOL

    1. Haha, I know exactly what you mean! This is definitely very different from traditional pizza. But it’s a cold pizza, so the mayo and cream cheese work really well with the veggies. It’s like a veggie dip, but placed on a crust!
