Foil packs on the grill are the perfect way to make a delicious meal all at once. Wrapping the food in foil creates a steam effect. It also allows you to make enough for a crowd if needed. These easy Shrimp Boil Foil Wraps have a Cajun flair.

I truly never expected the level of Cajun flavors that would be present in the cuisine of this city. Now that we have settled in here, we have come to appreciate the abundance of mouthwatering Cajun-inspired dishes that Houston has to offer. From delicious gumbo to flavorful crawfish boils, the local culinary scene has truly embraced the Cajun flavors and traditions.

My problem with doing the crawfish boil or a shrimp boil is the amount of spice that absorbs into the seafood. When something is too spicy, it doesn’t agree with me. So I often can’t eat anything when we go to a boil. Except, of course, the yummy appetizers and desserts that are often there. Especially if it’s around Mardi Gras and there’s King Cake!

Why Foil Wraps?

This foil wrap gives the meat the same texture as a boil. However, it doesn’t get over-seasoned, ensuring a well-balanced flavor profile. Additionally, it offers the flexibility to personalize each serving according to individual preferences. For instance, if someone prefers more sausage over shrimp, you can easily accommodate that preference. Moreover, you can effortlessly adjust the quantity of seasonings to meet varying taste preferences. This adaptability allows for a truly customized dining experience. The versatility of this foil wrap is what makes it a fantastic choice for any occasion. So go ahead and experiment with different combinations to satisfy everyone’s cravings.

Since we have four people in our house, and each of us likes our meal a bit different, these are the types of meals we enjoy. You could also add potatoes to the packets if you prefer. However, keep in mind that you’ll need to precook them a little bit because they won’t grill long enough to cook thoroughly. Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that experimenting with different seasonings can add a delightful twist to these meals. So feel free to explore various herbs and spices to enhance the flavors according to your personal taste preferences.

Roll up the edges to seal but don’t make it tight. There should be a packet of air so there’s room for heat to circulate and possible expansion.

Make sure yours is closed completely. This one didn’t cook as well since it didn’t seal.

Place the packets on the grill and close the lid. Cook for about 6-10 minutes. Rotate the packets on the grill a quarter turn and cook another 5-7 minutes. Check one to make sure the shrimp are pink. The sausage should be heated. Remove from the grill and carefully open the packets to let the heat out. Sprinkle with parsley and serve warm.

That makes me smile and reminds me of NJ. That’s the first thing, we usually make whenever it’s getting warm enough to sit in the backyard. Now, I am in Tampa, I have the luxury to enjoy outside all the time. I will make the shrimp boil foil packet this weekend. I also like to add pepper in mine.

Man oh man, I haven’t had shrimp in so long and I miss the crap out of it!! I need to get on some shrimp today! And perhaps make it just like you have!

    1. My parents live in Florida, too. My mom is severely allergic to shellfish, but any time she is visiting me we get photos of similar meals that my dad is cooking while he can! I hope they enjoy the recipe!

    1. My boys are iffy on shrimp, but my husband and I both love it. We just tend to make something else for them on the nights we want it, or only cook it when they are staying the night with grandparents!

    1. I know, I need to do it more often. We made a different foil meal for camping a few months ago and it was perfect over the campfire to make dinner and left almost no mess.

    1. We made something similar over the campfire a few months ago when camping. It would be great for family meals since you could let each person put their own together.

  3. I really want to eat cajun for a couple of years when I discover an all you can eat place in Tokyo. I wonder if Japan sells cajun seasonings because I would love to try this!

I love shrimp in any form! I will definitely try this recipe out, but let me get it, is the shrimp already cooked you just heat it up a bit right? Can it be done with raw shrimp too?

    1. I made it with the precooked shrimp since we wanted to make it quickly. But you should be able to do it with raw shrimp, too. It will just take a bit longer on the grill to cook them all the way.

  5. My friend likes shrimp very much and I’m sure she’ll be happy to try your recipe. The food prepared in foil is delicious, I love the smell of steam rising just after opening the foil.
