Two of our favorite meals are pizza and hamburgers. Pizza burgers are a great combination of the two favorites into one delicious meal!
Jump to RecipeIn my family, we love both pizza and juicy burgers. Fresh mozzarella cheese is the best when making anything since it melts so well and is so creamy. Plus, I love marinara sauce or pizza sauce on just about anything. Combine that with the great flavor of a perfectly grilled burger and it’s a delicious meal!
I’ll be honest, it took a lot to convince me to try these. We had been talking about them for a while, but I have been spoiled by how good our BBQ burgers are. No other burger has been as good to me since Justin started making those. But, I will say, this pizza burger recipe is amazing! We will be going back and forth between the two recipes now when we want burgers.
The boys also enjoyed these and thought they were a fun combination. When I first said pizza burgers they weren’t sure what to expect. They both said they still prefer regular pizza but would eat the pizza burgers again.

Pizza Burgers Step by Step
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp parsley
- 2 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup pizza sauce
- 2 oz fresh mozzarella, thinly sliced
- 4 dinner rolls

Preparation
Combine ground beef, parsley, oregano, pepper, and salt in a large bowl.

Cut the meat mixture into quarters and form into beef patties about 1/2″ thick.

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add the patties, cooking for about 5-8 minutes per side, until the desired doneness.

Add a scoop of pizza sauce to each patty.

Top each with a slice of mozzarella cheese.

Cover and cook another 2-3 minutes, until the cheese melts. Serve the pizza burgers on the dinner rolls with extra sauce to dip.

Pizza Burgers Leftovers
Don’t assemble any leftover pizza burgers on their buns. Store the burger patties covered with sauce and cheese in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat either in a skillet or in the oven until warmed through. Then assemble the burger. If you store the patty on the bun, it will make the bread soggy.

Pizza Burgers FAQs
I haven’t tried it with anything else. But if you don’t eat beef, you could try with a different ground meat.
I would not suggest freezing the final burgers. If you want to make some ahead, prepare the patties and freeze those before cooking. They can last up to 3 months in the freezer when stored properly.
Our grocery store has a speciality cheese section that’s separate from the regular sliced and shredded cheeses. I find fresh mozzarella in this area.
Yes, if you’d prefer, you can use Italian Seasoning in the meat mixture instead of the parsley and oregano.
Yes, by all means, add your favorite pizza toppings to the burgers. You can top the cheese with pepperoni slices, bacon slices, or anything else you typically eat on your pizza or hamburger.
Nope, you can try other types of bread if you prefer. Pizza burgers would also be good on hamburger buns, English muffins, or Kaiser rolls.

I REALLY WANT TO MAKE THIS! I am using capslock to express how much I love this! I am going to make this next week!
No worries, it’s so delicious, capslock is fully appropriate! 🙂
My son will love this. We have burgers every second Friday and then pizzas in between. This is a great combination of the two!
Sounds like it’ll be perfect for your family then!
This has literally just made my mouth water. I love the idea of pizza burgers, must try!

Two of my favorites foods all in one. Yes, please! Looks absolutely delicious.
I know, right?! I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it sooner.
Pizza Burgers may have actually tasted good in the days of old when I used to eat ground beef. Vegan here 😉
I totally understand. I had a friend make something similar with vegan meat and she said it still worked well!
What a clever idea! I love pizza and burgers – this is a great mash up.
I wouldn’t think they would go together, but it works so well!
I love trying new recipes, I really need to make this for the family this weekend
I hope your family enjoys it! Mine definitely did 🙂
They used to serve us pizza burgers in school. They didn’t look like this though, these look better.
Really? They didn’t serve anything like that in my school or I would have definitely given it a try.
I am so making these for dinner tonight! What a yummy twist to a delicious burger and so easy!
It’s a great way to have something familiar but also different.
Wow my mind is blown! I love this idea I have to try it!
