A monster birthday party is easy to do yourself. Put some eyes and funny faces on a few things, some bright colors, and you have monsters!
My little monster just turned one!! Ok, Ryan isn’t really a monster, but the monster birthday party theme was too adorable to pass up!!
I spent a lot of time on Pinterest trying to decide what I wanted to do for Ryan’s first birthday party. I had a lot of theme ideas, everything from rodeo (after all, he was born in Texas y’all!) to under the sea. Eventually, I decided on the monster theme because it is very versatile and can be fun bright colors. We had some leftover decorations from Tyler’s birthday parties, so it helped save on some expense as well.
Being a digital media person, I designed my own invitation and started gathering my ideas for the food and decoration. Most of my stuff couldn’t be done until the day of, so I was glad I had a lot of help getting ready.

Fun

Thank you to everyone who came and helped us celebrate our baby turning one! Ryan had a great time at his party playing with friends and family, eating so much food. He laughed, and ate, and played, and ate, and opened gifts…. and ate. Our little monster is no longer a baby!
Some people think I’m crazy for the detail I put into the parties. And yes, it is a lot of work sometimes. But I thoroughly enjoy trying to figure it all out and how I can make everything fit the theme. As the boys get older, I know the parties will be less themed, so I get my fun while I can!

I LOVE these ideas, Stephanie! The marshmallow eyes on the cake are genius! And the favors are adorable, too – I totally want to adopt a monster out of the basket! 🙂
The marshmallow eyes were a last-minute addition when I was trying to figure out the best way to decorate! Everyone loved the monster stuffed animals, we still have a few floating around the house four years later!
This is such a great party theme – who doesn’t like monsters! I love the monster cake and cupcakes – they look fab!
It was so much fun, and it turned out better than I originally though it would, too!
