Today’s Task: Under the Sink
Similar to the junk drawer, under the kitchen sink seems to be a place that things tend to gather unnecessarily.
- Take everything out from under the sink.
- Wipe down the cabinet if it needs it.
- Group similar things, such as cleaning supplies, dish cleaners, empty jars, etc. so you know about how much you have of everything.
- Decide if you need new containers to organize what you have under the sink.
- Put everything back in a more organized way.

Under the Sink in My Kitchen
We don’t keep much under our sink because, even though I have some cabinet locks on it, the boys still sometimes get the cabinet open. We have our dish drying towel under the sink, along with the detergent for the dishwasher, and the plugs for the sinks. In the back are some spare glass jars that we use for cooking oil, and a few scrubbing sponges. Our box of garbage bags is there since the garbage can is right next to the sink, and I have a fire extinguisher under the sink for emergencies. The last thing I did was put a small hook on the inside of the cabinet that we use to hang the dishwashing brush so it isn’t sitting out on the counter when we aren’t using it.

This isprobably one of the most disorganized areas of my house! So much random stuff under there. You’ve inspired me to clean it out!
That is a problematic area in our kitchen. Our garbage bin is under the sink, plus the recycling bin, so not a lot of space for anything else!
Kitchen organization is so important. I like a handy guide as well. Planning the work in smaller chunks is so much more realizable.
LOVE this, I am going to go back and read your other instalments, as there are some good tips here for sure. Always up for a declutter x
You should see the mess under my kitchen sink lol…I definitely need to do something about it.
I am afraid to dive under my kitchen sink. It needs a sort but I am afraid to find some dead bugs. Cockroaches are super common here and I know there might be some there.
Having the cabinet under the sink organized is so important. I know I like to keep a bucket, cleaner, and sponges under my sink.
I have a couple of sliding drawers in the kitchen under the sink. Really helps to pull the stuff out.
oh yes! it is often the most neglected and disorganized place only inviting clutter. proper organization there means a lot.
We finally organized under our kitchen sink and it has relieved so much of my anxiety!
I am glad I have read this. I am going to move on our new house next year. Thank you for sharing this kitchen organization.
I make sure this is always clean and organized coz I am scared of roaches.
This kitchen organization series was made for me. I follow all your tips and they have been helpful. I was planning to put all my cleaning products under the sink.
I don’t have a lot of stuff under the sink but it’s absolutely a great idea to have it organized like this.
I’ve been really enjoying your kitchen series. I’m a cook, and you would think that I’d keep everything super organized. BUT… I don’t. LOL
We had some problems cleaning under the sink before but now we keep it clean. This is interesting to read.
Never thought about having a cabinet under the sink, smart move! This s a sign that I should start cleaning our sink 🙂

Hihi…that’s one of the most ignored places in any house. I always check on it every once in many months.
Your post is compelling me to look under my kitchen sink. I tend to keep my garbage bags there. Also keep some spare disposable bottles for travel. However without regular check it tends to overflow. I love your fire extinguisher idea though.
Those are some great tips and will keep them in mind. It makes me wanna start working on the kitchen as well.
This area is so messy in my house. I need to tackle this ASAP.
