2016 Garden Update #5: We added a banana tree

I was not planning to grow a banana tree, but when someone posted on our community facebook page that they were trying to get rid of all the extras growing by theirs, and they were free if you picked them up, I couldn’t pass it up! So earlier today I took Tyler and Ryan over with our cooler (because it was the only thing I could find on short notice to carry the plants in) and a shovel and we got four banana plant sprouts!

We went right home, laid Ryan down for his nap, and Tyler and I went out back and planted the sprouts. I have no idea how well they will do, but I figured it was worth a try, especially since they are free! I will never turn down free plants!

Oh, and of course, Tyler made me check on the “baby birds” (even though they are still eggs yet), and I was able to get a better photo of the nest and the eggs.
