Frozen Fruit Cups are so great for the heat of summer! Well, they are great anytime, but especially when it’s warm outside. The slushy fruity goodness makes a great addition to your summer night party. We often make these just to have on hand and eat one every evening (ok, sometimes twice per day).
I like to make the fruit cups in jars since they have lids that can close and seal. It also makes it easier to stack them in the freezer. But you can also use plastic cups (we are just trying to avoid plastic and waste in our house). If you don’t like the idea of eating them from the jar or don’t have long enough spoons, you can also dump it into a bowl. We used to do this for the boys when they were younger.
The best part is you can make them with whatever fruits you want. I use this basic recipe, but sometimes can’t find one of the ingredients, or it isn’t in season, so I change it up. Another option would be to make this as a slushy punch drink… I’ve never done that, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. If anyone does that I would be very interested to hear how it works!
Step by Step
In a large mixing bowl, mix all of the ingredients together. You’ll want to let the frozen concentrates thaw just a bit before mixing.
Spoon the mixture into the cups or jars, filling them about 3/4 of the way full. Make sure to get some of the chunks of fruit in each cup. Since you will be freezing the jars, make sure to leave enough room for the liquid to expand.
Place the jars in the freezer for a few hours until they are frozen.
Remove from the freezer about one hour before serving so they become slushy.
