Years ago, the first time I went with Justin to visit his grandmother in Missouri, she made a chocolate strawberry cake. Justin wanted some of her recipes, so had me watch what she did and write it down. This was a very simple cake that she made, and you can make it with any fruit filling. We prefer strawberry as a personal preference. You could also make it with cherry if you prefer that.

She actually had a type of stand mixer, which was the first I had seen of one. I thought it was awesome so when we made our wedding registry it went on there. Thankfully Justin’s coworkers got one for us! While you could do this with a hand mixer, it’s so nice to throw it all in and let it work.

Chocolate Strawberry Cake Leftovers

If you happen to have leftover cake, you can store it in the refrigerator. Those with low humidity can probably keep the cake at room temperature for up to 2 days. For us in Houston, anything like that doesn’t do well so we keep it in the refrigerator. I like the cake cold, too, so it works.

Loving this cheats version. It makes making a cake so much faster and easier. I know I’d love this cake as would my family. We love chocolate and strawberries so it would be a big hit!!!!

  3. Ooooh! I’m not a fan of chocolate-covered strawberries, but this looks like a much better take on the flavor. Saving this for Valentine’s Day!!
